Balancing Analysis of Performance Management with Politics

 

It is widely recognized that technical analysis and analytical strategies must be combined with organizational decision-making processes that result in consensus-building and support for performance management. This is politics with a small p which deals with bureaucratic in-fighting and resistance to change while, for example, speaking truth to power.

Integrative decision-making processes offer an opportunity for improvement by utilizing the input of those with relevant experiences and insights. If politics is disjointed from efforts to implement performance improvement, success is extremely unlikely.
